Adorable Valentine’s Day Card Tutorial:

Step 1. Color the adorable little critter.

I started this adorable Valentine’s Day card by coloring the mouse from the Really High Five stamp set with Copic markers. When using markers, I personally like to use alcohol markers. I like the way they blend into each other without leaving harsh lines. Copics are the most well-known markers out there, and I really like their consistency, so that’s what I’ve used here to create the adorable little mouse holding the balloons.

I used the R20 Copic marker for the belly and the ears of the mouse. Then, I used a 0 colorless blender to blend out the lighter areas.  Next, I colored the body of the mouse with neutral gray tones. I colored the furry parts of his body with N0, then added N2 in the areas that would have had a shadow.

Looking to color even more cute critters? Here’s a great tutorial that covers the basics!

Step 2. Cut out the balloons.

Next, I cut out the balloons that would go into the little mouse’s hand. I created these by cutting out the Heart Balloon image using my Cricut Explore Air 2 Machine. Then, I cut this image out three times. the first was on a sheet of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock. The second was on some pink glitter cardstock, and the third was on some blue glitter cardstock. Then, I then used the white cardstock as the base and string. Trimming the strings off of the glitter cardstock images allowed me to then layer the Glittery hearts over top of the white ones to give them more dimension in the balloons.

Step 3. Add a matching background.

To start to wrap up this adorable Valentine’s day card, I chose some striped cardstock that matched the mouse and balloons I’d already made. I trimmed it to be 4 inches by 5.25 inches in length to use as the background and secured it to an A2 sized Neenah Classic Crest Solar White card base using some Scrapbook Adhesives mounting squares.

Step 4. Add a sentiment and embellish.

Lastly, I used the I just adore you sentiment from the Sentiment Strips 2 stamp set from Altenew to add a little extra love onto this adorable Valentine’s day card. I used my Misti stamping tool to make sure that it was in the correct place on the banner, then I stamped it down using my Ranger Jet Black archival ink.  Then, I added some textured black cardstock and some Morning Dew Nuvo drops to place my final embellishments on the card.
