Lettuce Be Friends | Handmade Gift Tag Tutorial

by Robin

Since social distancing began in March, I’ve found that I have a lot more time to craft than I normally would. I’m also working from home instead of going into the office. This has its perks for sure. My morning commute to my desk is shorter and I can stay in my PJ’s all day. But I do find myself missing my amazing gal pals.

I decided to send some cheer to a few of my friends by making these Lettuce Be Friends gift tags, and tieing them to bouquets of flowers for my friends. This was such a fun project, and I really loved getting to share some joy with friends!

Lettuce Be Friends Gift Tag Tutorial:

Step 1. Color and cut the lettuce!

Gift tags are a really fun and quick way to get creative. To make this Lettuce Be Friends gift tag, I started by stamping my lettuce stamp from Waffle Flower Crafts, then I colored it in using my Copic markers. I used YG4, G02, G05, and G09 to color the little head of lettuce, then I took the matching die and cut it out.

Step 2. Create the gift tag base.

Next, I used the square frame with the rounded edges from the Lawn Fawn magic color slider die set and used it to make the gift card base. I ran this through my Sizzix Bigkick machine with some Neenah solar white cardstock to create the gift tag base.

Step 3. Distress oxide ink blending for the win!

Once the gift tag base had been created, I added some spun sugar distress oxide ink, at the top of the tag, and squeezed lemon at the bottom. I then blended the two colors together in the middle.

Step 4. Add the finishing touches.

I stamped the lettuce always be friends sentiment on the tag, and I placed my little lettuce friend near the top. Lastly, I added some dandelion yellow NuvoDrops around the gift tag to finish it off.
