Hero Arts Stamped Birthday Banners Card Tutorial

by Robin

Lately, I’ve found myself roaming through my card making supplies looking for ways that I can use my existing materials. I came across this banner stamp set that I bought a few years ago during valentines day, and I thought “why not turn these banners into a birthday card?” In my mind, I was picturing some subtle tones in the card with a light pop of color in the birthday banners. after finishing this card, I can honestly say that I’m really happy with how it turned out, and this little stamped birthday banners card might even be up there in my top favorites for this year! Take a look at how I made it and the supplies I used below.

Stamped Birthday Banners Tutorial:

Step 1.

I started this card with a deep brown card base. I used some recollections cardstock and trimmed it to be 8.5 x 5.5-inches in size then scored it down the middle to create an a2 sized greeting card. Next, I trimmed a sheet of Bazzil Swiss Dots Cardstock in White to be 3.5 x4 in size. I cut the bottom of the cardstock at an angle so that I could place the banners behind it layering one over top of the other later on.

Step 2.

Next, I used my Tami’s Mint Chip layering ink pad set from Hero Arts to create these adorable banners you see. Using my Misti stamping tool made it so much easier to position and stamp my banners. For example, I found myself having to stamp the deep brown (Cup O’ Joe) color multiple times to get a clean image. I then cut out each banner using my trusty Feather shears.

Step 3.

Before sticking everything to the card base, I laid all of the pieces down together and figured out exactly where I wanted them to be. After the positioning was set, I stuck two of the banners directly onto the brown card base and the other two banners would stick to the white Bazzil cardstock. I used Scrapbook Adhesive mounting squares to keep them in place. Then I stuck both pieces together using Forever In Time pop dots, so that the banners would lay nicely on top of each other.

Step 4.

Next, I stamped the words Happy Birthday onto a small strip of Neenah Solar White cardstock using the Cup O’ Joe ink pad. Then laid that cardstock on some fancy teal pressed paper that I had in my stash. Then lastly, I inserted a metal brad to the right of the sentiment to add the finishing touches.
